Friday. Ahhhh Friday! The end of the traditional work week comes to a close and for many comes with a sigh of relief. Feeling caught up in the rat race? Was today stressful? Then you need to check out this 10 minute guided meditation video!
Today was admittedly a long day for me, and while elaborating (i.e. b*tching) about it for some feels useful it really is not. Instead I’d like to focus on what went right. On days I’m feeling especially stressed or caught up in the face paced crazy that happens so easily in every day life, making a list if what you accomplished can be very calming.
On the same line of thought, making a gratitude list is also a great daily activity. To put gratitude into daily practice, pick the same time every day to center yourself and make a list of 10 things you are grateful for. I think a physical list is nice, but it can be a mental list too. You do not have to spend a long time doing this, in fact we are ore likely to make things habit if we start with small commitments and grow them over time.
Maybe for you a good time is the morning commute. Lot’s of people travel to work, and some travel long distances. Why not take this time to set your intention for the day by starting with gratitude. Another strategy is to set an alarm on you phone. It sounds crazy to schedule something like this, but it’s also very easy to keep putting off what we see as something easy.
Me personally, I keep a small hard cover journal with me everywhere I go. It’s my gratitude journal. There are days I still forget (I should take my own advice with that phone alarm…) but I like physically carrying my gratitude journal. It’s a reminder I have a lot to be thankful for.
